Maung Maung Extension Term 4 PENN Music

Kia ora! This term me and the extension group have been assigned with the task to make a beat on garage band for our school PENN. Our school’s PENN didn’t have original sounds so our teacher Mrs Burton decided to let us make music for the PENN. Mrs Burton also decided to let us make music for the school PENN because our schools theme for the year was “let the music play.” Our theme being let the music play also gave us the opportunity to learn more about music, and maybe make us musician.

There were lots of challenges while making the beat like having to make a beat suitable for the part I was working on, it was hard to the point where I had a whole beat ready, but when I listened to it with the part I was working on it didn’t suit it, so I decided to delete and make another one. But while there was challenging parts there were also easy parts like combining 2 instruments and making a nice beat.

Incase the video doesn’t work the song I made was a little uplifting and electric, instead of it being soft because I worked on the intro of the PENN, so I thought that if it contained a uplifting beat it would make people think the whole PENN movie would be uplifting and good!

This project took me a while because I had a very busy term with sports and lots more. I still enjoyed it a lot though because I personally love music. I also realised that this was my very last extension project for the year. Thank you for reading this and watching my video!

Maung Maung KPMG Thank You Letter

Dear Justine and the KPMG staff.

Thank you for all the times you let us come to KPMG, those times have been appreciated very dearly, and they will always stay in our memories. The activities you set up for us were very creative and very fun! A very big special thank you to the kitchen staff for cooking the most delicious, wonderful, tastiest food in the world!

I really enjoyed the latest visit when we were able to perform in front of the rest using music! And a big thank you to the 2 KPMG staff who helped me and my friends with the song we used to perform. We also really enjoyed learning lots about what KPMG does, and the office tours that you guys gave us.

The 2nd trip for this year probably had the most hilarious, and wonderful staff, especially Amber! But the other staff members were really cool as well. The idea of building legos, and having challenges like building a marshmallow tower with sticks, were really entertaining.

KPMG is the best experience that I was blessed with the opportunity to go to. I hope the best for the future of KPMG and that the next generation of kids can take the trips for granted.

From Maung Maung.

Maung Maung Extension Manaikalani Movie Experience

Kia ora! These past few weeks me and the extension group including the entire school of pt England have been creating movies, so we could present them to other schools at the hoyts cinema! The first weeks of term 3 we worked on these slides called background understanding. Background understanding are slides that teach us kids what the words mean and the difference between each word, the words that we studied were parody and satire. If your wondering what these two words mean check out our slides!

In week 3-4 we decided what we should do for the actual movie. There were ideas like Hell’s kitchen(Gordon ramsey cooking show), Murder mystery, and the Truman show, but in the end the extension group had a vote and we all decided to make a parody on the song “From the start” by Laufey. The song “From the start” is a very famous song made by a famous artist called Laufey. The actual song is about a love song for her and another person but since we’re just kids from a school we decided to change it up and make it about things we love.

Later on, on week 5 we started on our storyboard! Mrs Burton decided that it’ll be best to split us into groups and let each group work on a different scene. I think this is a good idea because we could take all of our ideas and put it into one single movie. My group chose to work on the first scene/intro, these are the lyrics we had to work with.

Don’t you notice howI get quiet when there’s no one else around?Me and you and awkward silenceDon’t you dare look at me that wayI don’t need reminders of how you don’t feel the same.

We came up with the idea that in the first seconds of the movie it’ll be a kid day dreaming during class and then it’ll transition to the song. That idea was put into the movie, but on our other parts we had the idea of making it about the love of sleeping, but we decided to switch it up, and talk about our love for school. The scene we made up was that me and my friend would link arms and then go around our school and give love hearts to everyone. The other ideas from our classmates were love about gaming, kfc, and netball. I was able to be apart of 3 scenes witch was about me holding cards showing all of the stuff that we love like gaming and etc. The 2nd scene was about me dropping the cards and Jaxon becoming cupid and shooting me with a bow and arrow heart. The 3rd scene was me and my friend Ponyamon linking arms and happily jogging together and giving love hearts to everyone. There were 2 main people doing most of the editing and they were John and Michael.

After we finished recording all the parts I decided to help John and Micheal edit the manaikalani movie. All of the movies have to be 3:00 minutes long and we managed to make it over 2:30 minutes. Overall during the process if recording the scene I felt really enthusiastic because I was able to express myself by acting. Hopefully everyone will enjoy the movie that the year 7-8 extension group have made. I’m really looking forward to seeing everyone else’s movies!

Maung Maung, Ponyamon, John create task movie and hot seat reflection

Kia ora! This week me and room 3 literacy participated in this one activity where we had to sit on a chair infront of a small group and then we had to answer questions from the people in your group. The Walt for our task and for the week was to understand characters deeply by exploring their feelings, motivations, and decisions through vocabulary and drama. Overall I think I could’ve done better but I am proud of myself!

Maung Maung This Is Poem

This is New Zealand weather.

This is the sight of darkness, light, rain and sunshine.
This is the stomping of people running away to stay dry.
This is the feeling when you wake up freezing and shivering.
This is the New Zealand weather like the 4 seasons but in just 1 day.
This is the moment where people just want a normal day.

This is New Zealand weather again,
but now you know it better.

This is my best friend.

This is the smell of beautiful flowers and roses.
This is the sprinting of his legs while he plays sports.
This is the feeling when he thinks he’s taller than me.
This is the best friend, like a leprechaun.
This is the moment where he finally passes the ball to me.

This is my best friend again,
but now you know it better.
